The British Intrapartum Care Society [BICS] was established in 2018 to promote excellence in intrapartum care.

Our aim is to standardise the care provided to women and babies across the British Isles during labour, ensuring safe practice through shared learning, high quality education and research.

Following the principles of co-production, working with women and families underpins our philosophy and strategy.

Our national and global network of specialists covering all multi-professional intrapartum disciplines provides a unique discussion forum for the dissemination of ideas, experience, innovation and regional good practice.

Through engagement with national bodies we both inform policy and support our members in the implementation of initiatives dedicated to improving women’s experience of childbirth and promoting personalisation of care.
